History

The Lion Journal used to be a blank book I owned. It is no longer longer blank, full with the things that bubbled up out of my mind on train journeys up and down the UK. It is called the lion journal because that was the name of the blank book.

The lion journal looks like this on the outside.

journalcover.jpg (9813 bytes) On the inside, there are lined pages crammed with biro scribblings, pictures and words. I made an effort to leave in all mistakes - everything was a "first-take". The aim is to move the contents onto this site for general viewing.

However, putting the journal on this site is an ongoing task. There are a few issues that I'm unsure of - for example, can I get away with crediting illustrations to companies, celebrities and organisations for humour value (as happens in the journal)? Can I subvert big brand consumer products without being sued? The pages where this happens will probably be among the last to go live. Maybe some things will change out of necessity.

The background image to these journal pages was originally pilfered from its inside cover, and each right page also had a small lion drawing on it. These drawings have, naturally, been amended by myself on almost every page. Note these original lion illustrations were by Charles Santore. Everything else is by me.
